Spring is in the Air!

Well I do believe it is finally spring! It’s still a little chilly outside sometimes, but overall I’m hoping that we have seen the last of winter for awhile. A long while. Maybe December. So I’m making spring items for my Etsy shop. I made these for a faithful customer and decided to list them as made to order. I think they would look great in black and white as wall hangings. That might just be my next project! Be on the lookout!

The Year of Organization!

This is the year that I will try to organize my yarn and projects. Organizing yarn seems to be an ongoing problem for me. I have it all put up neatly (yes it does look like a yarn store) and then I get a bunch out to do a project and it’s all messed up again. So this year I will try to keep up with putting yarn back where it goes. Starting in February. 🙂

Then there are the boxes of unfinished projects. What to do with those? I think I will try to set a goal of finishing 10 a month for now, starting in February. Before the end of this month I want to have a list of them and them I’ll be ready to get started.

January has been a great month on Etsy. I’d love to see that continue. I’ve been making turtles like crazy and I’ve even made a couple of smaller ones. I’m looking forward to what all 2015 will hold. I’ll let you know how the organizational project is going throughout the year.

Craft Fair This Saturday!

Join me this Saturday in Lebanon, Illinois for a wonderful craft fair experience. Right on Main Street in downtown Lebanon, there are so many wonderful crafters and the food is great. We’re there from 9 to 5. I’ll have a ton of great crochet items for sale including slippers, baby hats, afghans, and much more. The weather is supposed to be perfect so come and see me. You never know what might be on sale or what kind of discount I might be offering. It’s a great time to sell off items and get ready to make new ones in the winter.

Remember Ponchos?

Isn't she sweet?

I remember when I was a little girl wearing ponchos! I loved mine. It was white with a little bit of fancy trim around the edge. Well I decided it would be fun to make one or two. I made a couple for Local Lucy’s, a great little consignment shop on East Main in Belleville, and then decided I should get some done for my Etsy shop. The nice ladies who run Local Lucy’s always decorate my poncho with a cute little hairclip. Well I certainly didn’t want to make hairclips, so I did the next best thing. I went to their little shop and bought a few. So I’ve taken the last two days and made a couple of little ponchos. I think they turned out really cute and I want to make a red one for Christmas. What do you think?

Christmas Gift Sets!

A pot holder, dish cloth and a scrubbie! What a set!

Christmas will be here before we know it! I’ve decided to make several of these kitchen sets to sell this year. The sets will include a pot holder, a dish cloth and a kitchen scrubbie! The scrubbies are great because they are made with nylon tulle and cotton. Perfect for scrubbing dishes or wiping down counter tops. Both of my sisters love theirs! The pot holders are a double thickness of cotton yarn and so many people just love their cotton dish cloths. They wouldn’t use anything else. So I figured why not combine them all into a set and they’ll make perfect hostess or teacher gifts this year. I’ll have to see how many different combinations of colors I can get done.

Visit my shop on Etsy at CrochetedbyCharlene.etsy.com or stop by Local Lucy’s in Belleville to find some of my great items.
