Afghans, Scarves, Hats, Decor and More…

Well – after much waiting, we now know that our grandbaby is going to be a boy! My husband and I were blessed to get to go with our daughter and her husband to watch the beautiful little baby on ultrasound day. If the baby is on time, we have less than 4 months before he arrives. I can’t wait. I’ll keep you updated!

Most everyone knows that I love to crochet. One of the first things that I learned how to make was a granny square. It’s amazing how many things you can make from a bunch of granny squares. I’ve made so many afghans. Granny squares are perfect to make because they’re so easy to take with you anywhere you go. Even the movie theater. Just ask my daughter. She’s never thrilled about that.

Anyway – I also love to make scarves. They are quick and easy and fun to create. So about a month ago, I decided to combine the two. The results have been some beautiful, but simple scarves. I think it would be so fun to mix and match them. I recently completed a cool varigated one and I’m working on two more currently. I’m hoping that they’ll be a big hit at my craft fairs that are coming up.

Dad and I play in the snow!

I’ve had a great summer. Traveled to 10 different states. About six of them I’ve never been to before. That was exciting. If you ever get the chance to go see the Grand Canyon, do it!!! But stay away from the edge. Playing in the snow in June at the top of the Rocky Mountains is something else I would highly recommend. Of course DisneyWorld never gets old.

I finished up my summer with classes in science and math. Now I’m excited to get back in the classroom and use my new knowledge and materials. But July is almost over and August means back to work. Not that I’m complaining. I know most people don’t have 2 1/2 months off to play. But I did go to class and I’ll spend another week in my room getting it ready for the sweet darlings who are coming my way.

My Etsy shop was doing great in June. And then I closed for vacation. I’m a little depressed that it hasn’t picked back up, but it will happen. I have a special order I’m working on now. It’s way too hot to take pictures outside right now anyway. Here’s a verse in the Bible I found last night that encouraged me. Hope it helps you too. ”

“But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” 2 Chronicles 15:7. Now I’m not saying my Etsy shop will immediately bounce back, but really everything we work at should be for our Lord.

Yesterday we got to spend most of the day with my sister’s son, David and his girlfriend Tabitha. He is stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We had a great time. It was a bit windy to say the least, but a great time of visiting.

Today we made our way into Arizona and went through The Petrified Forest National Park. We saw beautiful scenery. Our God certainly made gorgeous out of nothing.

We saw part of The Painted Desert and the Petrified Forest. It was all just overwhelming. Tomorrow it’s on to The Grand Canyon. I can’t imagine it being any better, but I’m certainly looking forward to it.
